Since joining Davis/Chambers & Company in 2008, Joe has participated in over 600 client engagements, including valuations of closely-held company stock, restricted stock, preferred stock, partnership interests, debt instruments, stock options, warrants, and various intangible assets. Valuations are performed for a variety of purposes, including tax and estate planning, buy-sell transactions, shareholder disputes, litigation support and expert testimony, ESOP compliance, mergers and acquisitions, fairness opinions, and financial reporting. Clients include executives, wealthy families, and small- and medium-sized companies in an array of industries, including engineering, construction, and other specialty contractors, as well as energy, manufacturing, distribution, retail, and technology. Joe also provides M&A advisory services and has assisted clients with successful exit transactions.
Joe is a CFA charterholder and member of the CFA Society of Houston, as well as an Accredited Senior Appraiser and member of the Houston Chapter of the American Society of Appraisers. He began his career with The Boeing Company as a budget and planning analyst on a missile defense program for the Department of Defense. Later, he joined Bechtel Oil, Gas and Chemical, Inc. where he worked with all levels of executive, functional, and project management to develop and report financial performance and forecasts for the multi-billion dollar business unit.
Joe earned a BS from Iowa State University and an MS in Finance from the University of Houston. While attending graduate school, he and three colleagues were members of the top American student stock analysis team in the CFA Institute’s 2008 Global Research Challenge. Joe taught an investments course as an Adjunct Professor of Finance at the University of Houston-Downtown, and he currently serves on the Advisory Board for the MS in Finance program at the C. T. Bauer College of Business. He lives in Houston with his wife, son, and dog Charlie.
